  • All sectors
  • EU Open calls
  • Coordinators: Innovation Fund 2024
  • Opening of application: 17 December 2024
  • Allocated budget: minimum 2,5 M€ (60% of eligible costs)
  • End of applications: 24 April 2025
  • Project duration: 3 - 15 years
  • Project submitted on: Open calls

Objective

Strengthen the manufacturing capacity of electric vehicle battery celles to reduce greenhouse gas (DHD) emissions and promote climate-neutral economy by 2050.

Priorities

  • Support innovative projects with significant potential to reuce GHG emissions
  • Encourage the development of advanced manufacturing technologies for battery cells
  • Strengthen the industrial competitiveness and technological leadership of Europe in the electric vehicle battery sector
  • Reduce the EU’s dependence on critical material imports, especially by diversifying supply sources

Eligible activities

Manufacturing of Electric Vehicle Battery Cells

Batteries designed for electric vehicles (categories L – motorcycles, scooters, M – passenger vehicles, N – utility vehicles, O – trailers) weighing more than 25kg.

Upstream component production

  • Cathode precursor material (pCAM)
  • Cathode active material (CAM)
  • Anode active material (AAM)
  • Electrolyte
  • Separator

Battery or Battery Material Recycling

Recycling activities and component production cannot exceed 100% of the battery cell production capacity in the project

Innovative results

Patents and outcomes arising from the project during its duration

The following activities are not eligible

  • Battery application production (e.g. electric vehicle manufacturing)
  • Assemby of Cells into Modules or packs
  • Production or recycling of upstream components exceeding 100% of the battery cell production capacity
  • Mining activities
