Objective

Promote sustainable multimodal urban mobility as part of the transition to a net-zero carbon economy.

Priorities

Reduce dependence on fossil fuels and CO² emissions, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas, by promoting more varied and less polluting modes of transport, aligned with the Alpine strategy.

Planned Actions :

Awareness, Information, and Training:

  • Establish networks for a better-connected mobility system (RTE-T network revision 2023);
  • Raise awareness on sustainable mobility (e.g. rail transport).

Development and Transfer of Technologies and Best Practices :

  • Create databases on mobility;
  • Innovations for Urban and peri-urban multimodal networks;
  • Pilot projects on soft mobility (e.g. cable transport).

Cross-Border Policies :

  • Agreements for cross-border sustainable transport solutions;
  • Solutions for the “last mile” in cross-border areas;
  • Integrated ticketing systems for cross-border commuters;
  • Feasibility studies for intermodal hubs and new sustainable tourist transport systems (e.g. hydrogen-powered shuttles).

Eligibility

Eligible Entities: Must be a legal entity (public or private);

Eligible Territories :

  • Italy: Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta, Metropolitan Area of Turin, Provinces of Cuneo and Imperia
  • France: Departments of Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes.

Partner Participation Conditions :

  • Partners must have a recognized administrative establishment in the NUTS III cross-border zones of the program;
  • Entities outside the eligible ALCOTRA zone (but still in France or Italy) can participate if their contribution is essential to achieving the project’s objectives and their actions benefit the program’s area.

Coordinator :

  • Must have a recognized administrative establishment or operational headquarters in the eligible zone;
  • Certain public bodies can act as the lead partner, regardless of their location.

Project outside the eligible zone :

  • If part or all of the project is carried out outside the program zone, its approval requires explicit validation by the Managing Authority, in accordance with EU regulations.
